We’ve ordered the new Lafetki ranges and are busy preparing for the upcoming Christmas fairs.
We took part in a charity fair at Experian around Easter this year, and now we’re looking forward to our second one at Nortal. It’s a really inspiring experience. We get to meet lots of people all at once, tell them what we do, answer their questions, enjoy some delicious home-cooked food, and showcase our products. It’s just like a party 🥳
We’ve attached our presentation to this post, along with our goals for the upcoming fairs. Proceeds from Lafetki and cookbooks will support biofeedback, neurofeedback and sensory therapies for the children at the Iris Centre. All donations raised will go towards new identity documents for young people leaving care at the age of 18 — just when their ID cards expire. Without documents, they cannot legally start work, are not full citizens, and are fined every time they are stopped by the police.
On average, 40 euros are needed for each young person – 15 for the identity card and 25 for the fine incurred because the previous one has expired and/or been lost. We’ll try to renew them before they expire or get lost, but there are also cases where a young person has racked up €125 in fines, making it even harder for them to reintegrate into society on their own. In such cases, we need to recognise that the young person is, after all, working, albeit without documents. You can imagine for yourselves that in Bulgaria it is very easy for someone to work without a contract. And yes, it is absolutely the state’s responsibility to help these young people, but some help is better than none.
If you’d like to support the Odd Minds Foundation cause, you can share our attached business cards in Bulgarian and English with your employer or with friends, who can then share them with their own contacts.
Thank you very much for your support 🙏
