Last Saturday (17 October) we were once again guests at the Lesnovo Family-Style Accommodation Centre, together with volunteers from the ‘Give Time’ Foundation. I (Lina) have been going there for three years and have seen several children arrive and leave. I’ve been there with my own children, and I’ve been there without them, but with ‘Give Time’ it’s a completely different experience.

We began the session with a circle, where everyone had the chance to introduce themselves, tell something about themselves and share one positive and one challenging thing that had happened over the past week. We discovered that we have two pairs of astral twins – a volunteer and a child – who were born on the same date. I’ve attached a photo with my twin.

Afterwards, we made pizzas with the children, helped them with their homework, played board games and had a chat. A lovely 14-year-old lad showed us his coin collection, which he’s been building up for a while, as well as his YouTube channel featuring videos of public transport vehicles. We also chatted with a teenage girl about the excitement of having your first boyfriend and what kinds of behaviour from boys isn’t on.

As always, the visit ended with a walk outside to give the children a change of scenery.
