Here you can see us taking part in DM’s ‘Striving for the Future’ competition with an idea of ours that we’d be delighted to bring to life. Unfortunately, they’ve left out our logo and name, but we’ve written to them to ask them to sort it out.
We want to create an interactive training programme on self-awareness and communication skills for vulnerable young people. One of the worst things about not having parents is that there’s no one to teach you about life – the things that, for whatever reason, aren’t taught at school. And social skills and self-understanding are critical to everyone’s success – the scientific consensus is clear on this.
I come from a whole family of teachers – my mum, my dad, my uncle, my aunt, my grandad and my grandmums – who have taught pupils from secondary school right through to higher education. For me, teaching methods must be interactive and engaging, rather than the usual format of a monologue-style lecture. That is why we have devised a programme based on experiential learning. No sitting in a hall and listening – just group activities.
Keep your fingers crossed that we make the cut 🤞
🖨 We’ve carried out our first experiments with the printer and we’re still not convinced whether it’ll work out, or whether it might be better to switch to completely manual printing. Designing new prints is a slow process, the printer needs about 20 prints after not being used for 1–2 days to start printing without blank lines or blurred colours, and printing anything longer than two lines is simply impossible. We haven’t given up yet, but we definitely want to try manual printing and possibly have two printing methods.
📦 We’re also at a crossroads with the packaging for the Lafetki cocktails. Bio-polyethylene like that used for the Icebreakers isn’t an option, because the machines can’t produce such small packaging. However, there are cardboard boxes that might work and are at a similar price.
Please share your thoughts on the printing or packaging in the comments. It’s important for us to hear what you like and what you don’t. 👎
And finally, tonight three-fifths of our team will be in Sinemorets, which is almost like a team-building exercise. Have a great summer from us, and see you soon!
